But it is about reminding you that parents have\u00a0<i>always<\/i>\u00a0been teachers. Their encouragement is what helped me turn the feeling in my heart\u2014wanting my kids to stay home and learn with me\u2014into a real, tangible choice. Before that, it felt almost unspeakable. No one in my family homeschooled. I didn\u2019t grow up around it.<\/p>\n<p>It felt like something \u201cother people\u201d did.<\/p>\n<p>It made me wonder: how many parents quietly consider homeschooling but dismiss it before exploring?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Parents_Are_Perfect_for_Homeschooling_Their_Children\"><\/span>Why Parents Are Perfect for Homeschooling Their Children<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Let me tell you something I believe with my whole heart:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There is <i>nobody<\/i> who can communicate with your child in a way that resonates more deeply than you can.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There\u2019s no one who can communicate with your child in a way that resonates more deeply than you can. Professional teachers are incredible (I still talk about one of my high school math teachers to this day!), but even they must learn how each student learns best.<\/p>\n<p>As a parent, you already have that insight. You\u2019ve been your child\u2019s teacher from the very beginning. Homeschooling is just a continuation\u2014your role is to facilitate, guide, and be present while your child explores the world.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Giving_Yourself_Credit_as_a_Homeschooling_Parent\"><\/span>Giving Yourself Credit as a Homeschooling Parent<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Think about all the things you\u2019ve already taught your child\u2014how to talk, how to recognize letters or numbers, maybe even how to use the potty (which, let\u2019s be honest, is no small feat when you\u2019re working with a toddler!).<\/p>\n<p>These are complex skills you\u2019ve mastered as a parent. Homeschooling builds on that foundation\u2014it\u2019s about guiding learning at home, not being an expert in every subject.<\/p>\n<p>Your role is that of a <em>facilitator<\/em>. Meaning, you don\u2019t have to be an expert in every subject. <strong>Your job is to guide, to seek out resources, to set the pace<\/strong>\u2014and most importantly, to be present as they explore the world.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Find_a_Homeschooling_Community_for_Parents\"><\/span>How to Find a Homeschooling Community for Parents<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re even a little bit curious about homeschooling, start by finding a group of like-minded parents.<\/p>\n<p>You can join local homeschool groups on Facebook or in your community. The goal isn\u2019t to copy others\u2014it\u2019s to demystify homeschooling and see what\u2019s possible. Many parents are successfully homeschooling while working full-time, balancing work, home, and learning. And it&#8217;s powerful to see that.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Starting_Homeschooling_Simple_Tips_for_Parents_Working_from_Home\"><\/span>Starting Homeschooling: Simple Tips for Parents Working from Home<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here are a few ways to begin homeschooling without feeling overwhelmed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Start with just 20\u201330 minutes of focused learning a day. <\/b><i>(This is actually the daily recommended amount for preschool and early elementary-aged children)<\/i><\/li>\n<li><strong>Pick one subject to explore together. <\/strong>It could be science experiments in the kitchen, reading a favorite book, or learning how to count through grocery shopping.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Look into your local homeschooling laws. <\/strong>Many states make it surprisingly easy to get started.
