Welcome

Welcome to Stream of Blue

I’m so glad you’re here.

Stream of Blue is a space for parents navigating the beautiful (and sometimes chaotic) mix of working full-time while homeschooling their children. Whether you’re new to homeschooling or simply curious, this is a place for encouragement, practical tools, and inspiration to help you thrive.

While many families were introduced to homeschooling during the 2020 pandemic, Stream of Blue wasn’t born from that moment—it was born from a long-standing dream. From the time I was pregnant with my first child (I’m now a mom of three), I knew I wanted to teach my children at home. With over 14 years of experience in instructional design and corporate training, teaching has always been part of my calling—even as far back as fifth grade when I helped kindergartners learn to read.

Here, I hope to demystify homeschooling for working parents. You don’t need a teaching degree or hours of free time each day—you just need the desire to guide your child’s learning in a way that works for your family. You are uniquely positioned to understand and nurture your child’s individual learning style.

This blog is also about finding peace and joy in the flow of everyday life—amid work meetings, lesson plans, laundry piles, and bedtime stories. Life doesn’t have to feel like a constant race. Like a gentle stream, you can create daily rhythms in your home that sustain you. You can live a life that feels intentional, connected, and deeply fulfilling.

The name Stream of Blue is inspired by nature—a stream that flows steadily, calmly, and with purpose. Blue, to me, is a calming color of serenity, stability, and spiritual grounding. My hope is that this blog offers you that same feeling: the quiet strength to pursue the life you truly want.

Whether you’re here for practical tips, encouragement, or just a reminder that you’re not alone—welcome. You belong here.

With warmth,

– Deirdre
